Privacy Policy

Last updated 12 June 2026

This policy explains how Rogers Pets collects, uses and protects your personal data, in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Rogers Pets is a pet-sitter directory; we do not process care payments, so we never collect or store payment information for those transactions.

1. Data we collect

Account data (name, email, password), enquiry messages between owners and sitters, your pet's details if you create a Pet Passport, and — for sitters — identity, council-licence and insurance documents shown on your public profile.

Sitters who subscribe to Featured or Premium tiers, or who pay per qualified enquiry, provide payment data to our payment processor (Stripe) for those charges only. We do not store full card numbers.

Basic technical data (device, approximate location, usage) is collected to run and secure the Directory.

2. How we use it

To provide the service: maintain listings, enable owner-sitter messaging, cross-check council licences against public registers, charge sitter subscriptions and lead fees, and support you.

To keep the Directory safe (fraud and abuse prevention) and to meet legal obligations. With your consent, to send marketing you can opt out of at any time.

3. Payments

We do not process payment for the care service itself — owners pay sitters direct. The only payments we process are sitter subscriptions and lead fees, handled by Stripe. Stripe acts as an independent controller for that payment data under its own privacy policy.

4. Sharing

When you send an enquiry, your message and contact details are shared with the sitter you contacted (the whole point of the Directory). We share data with service providers (hosting, email, payments) under contract. We do not sell your personal data.

5. Retention

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law (for example, sitter subscription records for tax purposes), then delete or anonymise it.

6. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete or port your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any right, contact us.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
